For the second consecutive year, SCGIS Chapter Bulgaria was an official partner of the prestigious GIS Forum, which took place on 14.11.2018 in Sofia Hotel Balkan. 20th Anniversary World GIS Day is organized by ESRI Bulgaria , the leading company in the field of GIS in Bulgaria, and it is being held with the official partnership and support of the record 41 organizations under the motto “20 years we design the world together”. As a part of the anniversary event, A National Map Contest, entitled “Rediscovering Bulgaria with GIS” took place, in which SCGIS Chapter Bulgaria participated with 1 printed map and three interactive maps (storymaps). The contest is organized by ESRI Bulgaria in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria, the Ministry of Tourism of Bulgaria, the Ministry of Culture and National of Bulgaria and National Geographic Bulgaria on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the GIS Day in Bulgaria.
SCGIS Chapter Bulgaria participated with printed map and three interactive maps (storymaps) (presented below), elaborated by the Space School coordinators Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vanya Stamenova and Chief Assist. Prof. Dr. Stefan Stamenov, as two of the interactive maps were developed with the participation of students trained in Space School – students from the NHSMS “Acad. L. Chakalov ” The interactive map about Space School educational initiative were awarded in “Education” category.
